2025 Nedbank Cup Launch

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) alongside Nedbank has officially opened the 2025 Nedbank Cup marking its 18th edition as the most esteemed knockout tournament in South Africa. This year’s tournament kickoff showcased the eagerly awaited round of 32 draw and unveiled the an exhilarating new Goals vs Saves contest that links and rewards Mzansi’s football enthusiasts to the competition with every triumphant goal and save in every match.

The 2025 Nedbank Cup aims to enhance its tradition of exciting ‘David vs Goliath’ contests, allowing new teams the opportunity to challenge elite professional clubs. The previous year’s Nedbank Cup provided several of the most unforgettable moments in South African soccer. Orlando Pirates once more secured the Nedbank Cup champions title, defeating Mamelodi Sundowns in a closely contested final that showcased the skill and enthusiasm that fuel the regional match.

“For nearly two decades, the Nedbank Cup has been more than just a tournament. It’s been a
springboard for unearthing exceptional football talent and driving meaningful change in South
African communities,’ stated Khensani Nobanda, Group Executive for Marketing and Corporate
Affairs at Nedbank. “Over the past 17 years, we’ve awarded over R200 million in prize money,
built 9 multipurpose sports courts worth R20 million cumulatively, and birthed the likes of
current Mamelodi Sundowns player Aubrey Modiba and Orlando Pirates forward Zakhele
Lepasa among others who have also represented the national team, Bafana Bafana. As the
longest standing supporter of South African football, Our partnership with the PSL is a
testament to our commitment to nurturing talent and creating opportunities on and off the
pitch.”

In 2024, Ke Yona, Ya Rona effectively showcased the ability of football to bring fans together and communities by creating opportunities for fans to engage with the Nedbank Cup in an unprecedented way previously, via weekly incentives and unique fan interactions at the Ya Rona House. It not only echoed throughout South Africa; it strengthened Nedbank’s contribution to developing the sport both on and away from the field.

This year, Nedbank is enhancing that legacy by launching Goals vs Saves – elevating fan involvement.

taking an additional step by transforming legendary football moments into chances to gain actual rewards. Goals vs Saves offers a new and enriching experience for supporters during the 2025 Nedbank Cup competition. For each goal scored, R20 000 is added to the prize pool, while every save contributes R10,000.00. At the end of every tournament round, the total amassed will be distributed among Nedbank MiGoals Plus and JustSave account holders chosen at random.
