Chiefs Signs Wrong Players

Kaizer Chiefs returned from their productive pre-season stint in Turkey and then encountered a formidable Young Africans FC in the pre-season competition known as the Toyota Cup in Bloemfontein on Sunday, 28 July 2024. The match ended with Chiefs being defeated by four goals to nil.

The new Kaizer Chiefs coach, Nasreddine Nabi, emphasized that it’s important for Amakhosi fans to understand that the club’s transformation into a strong and quality-playing team will not happen quickly.

Despite having already brought three players on board, Nabi intends to sign additional players, although he did not specify who they are.

Nabi accuses Chiefs of making the mistake of signing the wrong players. “The club has made some errors in signing players that were not needed and that were not quality of Kaizer Chiefs. We need to be very careful how we choose our players; what players we choose, what caliber (and) what kind of players we put on the field to meet the expectation.” said Nabi.

In addition, he reaffirmed that Chiefs are in a very competitive market because many teams are reluctant to let go of their players. Nevertheless, he is determined to secure the right players who can deliver positive results for the team on the field.

Nabi is evaluating new players and is eager to recruit Gaston Serino, the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, following the agreement on personal terms with the Soweto giants.

After finishing 10th in the previous season and missing out on the coveted 2024 MTN8 tournament, which will see the victor take home a whooping R10 million, Kaizer Chiefs are back for another season! On Saturday, September 14, 2024, in Bloemfontein, they will play their debut game of the 2024–2025 season against the newly formed PSL franchise Marumo Gallants FC.
